Fourier transform near-infrared (FT-NIR) spectroscopy, in combination with multivariate data analysis, is a well proven and widely used technique in the pharmaceutical industry for the ingredient identification. Identification provides a means of evaluating whether or not the test sample is a member of the population for which the calibration model was developed. FT-NIR is a fast and nondestructive technique that provides both chemical and physical properties on virtually any matrix. An introduction on the use of FT-NIR for sample identification in the Nutraceutical industry will be presented.
